WORLD’S LIGHTEST CAMERA WEIGHS JUST 12G

Ever wanted to feel like James Bond and have some of Q’s gadgets in your own hands? Well now could be your time as a Japanese company has placed on the market a digital camera that is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand – even if you have really small hands.

Japanese Trust Technology (JTT), already known for its micro camera series, has put on sale in its home country the CHOBICAM1, which it claims it is the world’s lightest SLR snapper. On sale for $120 in Japan, the CHOBICAM1 weighs just 12g and comes in a small form factor of only 25 x 25 x 26mm - which will easily fit into the palm of your hand or your pocket for easy spying should that be your thing. While obviously this little camera doesn’t take top-notch images it does shoot stills and video at resolutions of 1600x1200 and 640x480 respectively.

To save those sneakily obtained videos and images, you can store them on a microSD/SDHC card up to 32GB before transferring them to your PC via a USB cable. In what is a most interesting aspect of this device, the CHOBICAM1 has interchangeable lenses and JTT plan on offering a range of lenses and other accessories in the near future.

The JTT is obviously of limited appeal and you may have to look to an importer to get this item if you live outside of Japan. What it does show however, is what can be done in relation to reducing the size of technology and shows we are now in an era when those gadgets we saw Sean Connery using as 007 are now a reality - and that can only be a good thing.
