The Sony Cyber-shot W570 compact digital camera is a new offering from Sony and as usual they have thrown the whole nine yards in terms of technology at this camera. But along with its state of the art features this machine is sleek, lightweight and looks fantastic.
The lens as might be expected is from none other than Carl Zeiss. It 5x optical zoom is complemented with a very generous 25mm wide angled facility, enabling the operator to not only hone in on distant subjects but not compromise the background either. This top of the range lens focuses its power on nothing less than a 16.1 megapixel CCD sensors, giving images of the highest quality and allowing print enlargement with no loss of definition.
And fantastic stills are not the only trick up this little cameras sleeve. With the press of just one button for optimum stability, the W570 turns into a very capable video camera. Recording at 720p, HD images to MPEG4 format, and the camera also allows the use of the 5 x optical zoom during shooting. Highly professional videos, zooming in and drawing back from the action can be taken with easy on what is to all intents and purposes a pocket camera! Indeed for the average pocket camera user the majority of photos taken are either of friends and family or holiday scenery.
Well, the Sony W570 has a few more tricks up its sleeve to make the best of these shots too. Firstly, the Face Detention feature recognises when a human subject is being taken and directs the focus on the face of the person. In addition when the shutter is pressed it adjusts the exposure and white balance to give the best result possible. To make matters even easier the Smile Shutter will actual detect when the subject is smiling and snap the shot at that exact moment, capturing them with their best expression – hopefully. All this is further enhanced by the Double Anti-Blur feature that reduces camera shake to an absolute minimum, giving the best in handheld shots.
And so, what about the problem of capturing those sweeping holiday vistas. Well, no more the sticking together of multiple images all with different exposures; just hold down the shutter button on the Sony W570 and sweep it across the scene. The camera takes multiple shots and with some software wizardry, stitches them together to give the perfect picture. Not only that, but the trick can also be performed on tall objects that are too close to get in the frame. Once again hold down the shutter button and this time sweep up or down the object and hey presto a perfect image of the Eiffel Tower without having to be standing half a mile away!
All the electronic trickery is orchestrated by a powerful BIONZ processor that ensures clear, detailed images and reduced noise whilst maintaining quick and responsive camera action. With a 6.7cm, high contrast LCD screen all your pictures can be easily framed even in bright sunlight. And finally, for those complete novices the camera’s iAUTO feature will take over for you and turn this great little camera into a simple point and shoot.
