When the Olympus XZ-1 was announced in the later part of last month there was quite a bit of buzz among the photography community. They weren’t necessarily buzzing about the cameras really slick looks or even about it’s 3-inch hi-res OLED screen, it was about the CCD sensor or more precisely it’s size.
The XZ-1 has been outfitted by Olympus with a 1/1.63in-type CCD sensor with 10 million pixels. That size of sensor is not common at all in the compact camera market, really only a few cameras come with sensors that large and they are all equally priced at a premium.
The Olympus XZ-1 is available, the lowest available price from reputable dealer thirdidigita.com. The cameras other main features include the TruePic V Image processor, a iZUIKO f1.8-2.5 6.0-24mm (4x zoom) lens, 3-inch OLED with 612k dot resolution, 12-bit RAW image capture, 720p HD video recording at 30 frames-per-second, HDMI output port and SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot.
